Victoria “Vicky” Jean Marchand age 85, of Tipp City, passed away July 16, 2023, at Randall Residence, Tipp City, under the care of Day City Hospice.
Vicky was born April 10, 1938 in Hollywood, Florida to Robert Walter and Gladys Geraldine Marchand, She is survived by brother, Jeff Marchand (Freya) of Fairlawn, OH; sister, Pamela Fisher (Jerry) of Tipp City, OH; nieces Melanie Fox (Jordan) of Tipp City, OH; niece Meredith Marchand Limbach (Judd) of Akron, OH; niece Hilary Marchand of Akron; nephews Matthew Fisher (Heather) of Tipp City, and John Marchand (Tricia) of Copley, OH. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews, Peyton, Jacob, Jordy, Jason, Isiah, Justin, August, Isla Ray, Lauren, Mariah, and Stephen.
Vicky was raised in Cuyahoga Falls and Wooster, OH. She graduated from Kent State University majoring in Education and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She taught in Shaker Heights, Oh; Houston, TX and Glendale, CA. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Pasadena College. From 1966 to 1968 she worked for the US Dept. of Defense stationed at the Rhein-Main Air Base, a US Air Force air base near the city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, teaching the children of military members. In Europe, she traveled throughout the world with her fellow teachers – enjoying an African Safari; trip to the Pyramids; Down Under to Australia, London, and many countries throughout Europe. She returned to the US in 1968 and in 1971 began teaching at Trotwood Madison Junior High School where she retired in 1993.
In the late 1980’s Vicky and her mother, Gerry, started “Everlastings by Agatha,” which specialized in herbs and everlasting flowers, which they operated very successfully for 20 years. Gerry passed away in 2006. She loved working in her gardens preparing her herbal vinegars, custom flower arrangements and wreaths, and potpourri sachet bags for her booths at the Waynesville Sauerkraut Festival, The Corn Festival in Wilmington, Caesar’s Creek Pioneer Days, and the Tipp City Mum Festival. Vicky was an active member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved her kitties, Sweet Pea, Pumpkin and Lily and her final Beagle puppy, Lily.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 12 Noon at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371 with Pastor Bonita Ritchie from the Tipp City Global Methodist officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. A gathering of friends following the burial will be held at the home of Jerry and Pam Fisher, 835 Hickory Hill Drive, Tipp City 45371.
