Rawlins, Thomas L., age 90, of Tipp City, Ohio passed away on July 14, 2022. Born October 14, 1931 in Bellbrook, Ohio to Kenneth and Donna (Leopard) Rawlins. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Betty Miller and Jeanne Hart. Tom is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley (Black) Rawlins and his children; Kim (Dee) Rawlins, Jeff Rawlins, and Brent (Kim) Rawlins, all of Tipp City. Grandsons Kevin Rawlins and Chris Rawlins, also of Tipp City, granddaughters Amy (Nathan) Colston of Centerville, Ohio, Jennifer (Kenny) Schoeb of Huber Heights, Ohio, and seven great grandchildren.
Tom attended schools in Vandalia and Tipp City, graduating with the class of 1949 from Tippecanoe High School. He worked on the family farm after graduating before entering the US Army in 1951, where he proudly served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.
After completing his military service, he went to work for the Dayton Power & Light Company in 1953, in Steam Distribution, for 44 years without missing a day of work.
After retirement Tom worked a few part-time jobs and served as a volunteer driver for Handi Van. In earlier years, Tom was an avid athlete in various sports but enjoyed running most of all, completing several marathons and triathlons. Tom also played on the Hopkins Chevrolet softball team for many years.
Visitation will be 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, 14 W. Walnut St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Pastor Dale Schaefer officiating. Burial with military honors to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.
