Ronald James Good Sr., age 87 of Troy, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 with his family at his
side. Born February 2, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to Richard Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Vickers) Good. He is
preceded in death by his parents, wife; Shearl (Lawing) Good and brother; John Good (surviving wife
Carolyn A. Good of Dayton, Ohio)
Ron was a graduate of Chaminade and went on to attend the University of Dayton. Before graduating, he
entered the Army and served overseas in Germany as a tank commander with the 2nd Battalion, 6th
Armored Cavalry. Upon his return home, he married and is survived by his former spouse, Marilyn B.
(Trame) Good, and their 3 children; Ronald (Anna) James Good Jr. of Troy, Ohio, Katrina Good of Bristol,
Virginia and Sean (Carolyn) Good of Elizabethton, Tennessee.
His work in commercial truck part sales moved him to Cincinnati, Ohio where he met his second wife
Shearl. Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching Notre Dame Football. His other hobbies included
bowling, landscaping, and woodworking. He was a talented painter, avid history buff, and enjoyed
spending time with his grandchildren. Most will remember Ron had a great way of conversation with a
quick witty and humorous retort that would conjure up an instant laugh and a big smile. He could talk
about most anything with anyone and always made a lasting impression.
Ron is survived by his siblings; Charles (Anita) Good of Dayton, Ohio; Theresa Swope of Dayton, Ohio;
Robert (Carla) Good of Cincinnati, Ohio and Lawrence (Debbie) Good of Dayton, Ohio. Step-children Pamela
(Michael) Moore; Harvey Lovitt Jr., and Jeffery Allen Lovitt. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. The family invites guests to join them for
a luncheon directly following Mass. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery after the luncheon. In lieu of
