Roger Risch Obituary

Risch, Roger L. age 81 of Vandalia (formerly of Tipp City) passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late John and Josephine Risch on July 19, 1939 in Sedalia, Ohio. Roger’s early years were full of adventures with his three brothers and family in Athens, Ohio. The brother’s legendary stories of their childhood have stood the test of time and are still shared at family gatherings. After graduating from Athens High School, Roger served in the United States Army and then went on to study at Ohio University.

Roger’s strong work ethic and motivation to be successful made for a longstanding career in management with Columbia Gas. Roger spent most of his adult life as a loving husband and father raising his family in Tipp City, Ohio. His proudest accomplishment was providing a wonderful life for his wife, Jo and their two daughters, Kristen and Amy. As a member of the Troy Corvette Club, he enjoyed racing, restoring and selling Corvettes. He spent countless years on the sidelines or in the stands cheering on his daughters as they excelled in athletics. They attended Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church. The families’ years in Tipp City were spent creating a lifetime full of friendships and memories.

Roger retired from Columbia Gas after 32 years of service at age 55. He enjoyed his retirement years living and boating on Lake Cumberland, KY and also traveling the country with Jo in their RV. His friends and family remember his quick wit and fun sense of humor. He loved to tell a great story and was known to embellish the details for a good laugh. His grandkids remember him as a fun loving Grandpa that would play ball with them, watch them from the sidelines of their favorite sports and cheer on The Ohio State Buckeyes, The University of Kentucky Wildcats and The Pittsburgh Steelers together.

Roger was a 50 year member of Paramuthia Lodge number 002 in Athens, OH and Scottish Rite Bodies in Valley of Columbus, Ohio. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jo “Jody”; daughters, Amy (Matt) Allen and Kristen Risch; grandchildren, Jonathan Davis Allen, Jakob Allen, and Sophia Allen; brothers, John (Eva), Richard (Trish), and George (Pat); and a host of other relatives and friends.
