Malafa, Richard Thomas age 80 of Tipp City, Ohio passed away Wednesday September 21, 2022. Born December 5, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Elmer James and Clara Cecilia {Cudnik} Malafa. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Jane {Deyling} Malafa, children; Jeanette (Sean Simpson) Malafa of Springfield, IL, Matthew (Keri) Malafa of Mariemont, OH, Elizabeth (Christopher Kurman) Malafa of Baltimore, MD, Judith Malafa of Tipp City, OH and Nicholette (Kyle) Thiesing of Pleasant Hill, OH. Also surviving are siblings; Marcia (James) Domagalski of Strongsville, OH and Alene (Ronald) Maccarone of Danville, CA, grandchildren; Cecilia, Jane and Sarah Simpson, Drew, Ethan and Ella Malafa, Josephine and Liberty Kurman.
Richard was an amateur radio enthusiast. He was a member of both the DARA (Dayton Amateur Radio Association) and Miami Valley Wireless. Richard enjoyed Cowboy Shooting with the Single Action Shooting Society. He was an avid reader, with a love for science fiction books. Richard had a passion for Geocaching, which allowed him to travel all over the country. He helped clear the Buckeye Trail and volunteered at True Friends Camp Courage in Minnesota. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM, Monday October 3, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St., Tipp City, OH 45371. Father Kyle Schnippel Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Richard to True Friends Camp Courage, 10509 108th St. NW, Annandale, MN 55302. Arrangements have been entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, Tipp City.
