Martha Hecker Obituary

Hecker, (Boerger) Martha J. age 95 of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 15, 2018 at SpringMeade Health Center, Tipp City, Ohio. She was born October 12, 1922 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio to the late Julian and Rosalind (Meyer) Boerger. She was married to Robert C. Hecker for 67 years until the time of his death in 2009. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard and Maurice and sisters, Sue Ann and infant sister Rita, sisters-in-law Loretta Boerger, Donna Boerger, Dorothy Miller, Betty Miller and brothers-in-law Bob Connair, Fred Miller and Otto Miller. Survivors include sons Michael of Indianapolis, Thomas of Indianapolis, James (Debbie) Hecker of Wyoming, Minnesota, Daniel (Hye Yon) of Irvine, California, Theodore of Tipp City, and daughter Dianna (John) Borchers of Tipp City. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Borchers, Lauren Freathy, Andrew (Bailey) Hecker, Nicholas (Aileen) Hecker, and Elizabeth (Matt) Hecker, and 1 great-grandchild, Emma Rose Hecker. Surviving sisters include Mary Margaret Connair, Madge (Gene) Derringer, sisters-in-law Rose Boerger and Nancy Boerger, and brothers, Joseph, Richard and fiance' Julia Brown, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hecker was a graduate of Ft. Loramie High School in 1940. Before starting her family, she worked at WPAFB. In between caring for her six children, she also worked for Spring Hill Nurseries, Valley Gravel, and retired from Montgomery County Department of Jobs & Family Services. She also was a faithful volunteer at the election polls for 35 years. Martha was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipp City where she was very active in her earlier years. She was an avid reader (especially biographies) and loved to crochet afghans. Martha will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her kind manner and beautiful sweet smile. A Funeral Mass will be held on 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City. Visitation 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 18th at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main Street, Tipp City, OH 45371, as well as 1 hour prior to the service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory of Martha to Hospice of Miami County.
