Lynda Turner Obituary

Lynda Christine (Minnich) Turner, age 45, of Tipp City, Ohio passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, the evening of Monday, October 25, 2021.  She was born December 2, 1975, at Nellis AFB, Nevada, to parents, Sally (Welly) Minnich and William Minnich.  She grew up in Tipp City, and was a 1994 graduate of Tippecanoe High School.  From there, Lynda spent the next four years at Bowling Green State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education (1998).  She spent two years teaching first grade in the Trotwood-Madison City School District before moving to Virginia and teaching the next seven years for the Fairfax County Schools system.  During that time, she also obtained her Master of Arts from George Mason University (2005).  In the meantime, she married her husband, Troy Turner, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City, (2002) and had two sons before returning to Tipp City to have her daughter and raise her children in the community she loved so much.  Lynda loved being involved in the schools, from being a volunteer/aide at St. John’s Early Childhood Program, to substitute teaching at Nevin Coppock, Broadway, and L.T. Ball schools.  As much as she loved her own children, she loved those that she met through teaching almost as much.  Coming from a family of caring teachers, Lynda’s destiny was clear early in adulthood.

When Lynda wasn’t working, she was attending one of her children’s soccer, basketball, or baseball games.  Her spare time was spent relishing her family’s company and all of the laughing, dancing, wrestling, and arguing that came with it.  She enjoyed walking at the YMCA, Kyle Park, and her neighborhood, where she spent time with so many of her close friends.  Lynda had an enormous heart and made everyone around her feel important.  Her nurturing soul was evident with all of the children she raised, taught, or tutored.  Lynda’s smile was contagious to everyone she encountered.  Though surgeries, maladies, and other sicknesses attacked her body, Lynda kept smiling and kept fighting through it all.  She refused to be a victim and did everything to spend as much time as possible with those she loved.  Her spirit will never be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Vincent and Marcella (Buchholz) Welly, her paternal grandparents, Elmer and Mary (Myers) Minnich, and brother-in-law, Solomon Jones.  She is survived by her parents: Sally (Welly) Minnich and William Minnich of Tipp City, her sisters: Amy (Michael) McCool, of Hurricane, Utah, and Karen Minnich of San Francisco, California, her husband, Troy, and three extraordinary children: Caden, Colin, and Alyssa.  Final arrangements have been entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, Tipp City, OH.  Visitation will be held Thursday, November 11 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 South Hyatt Street, Tipp City, OH 45371.  A memorial service in her honor will be held the following morning at 10:30 AM at the church; Father Gene Vonderhaar, officiating.  Lynda’s final resting place will be at St. John’s Cemetery.  Contributions can be made in Lynda’s honor to the Pink Ribbon Girls, 32 East Main Street, Tipp City, OH 45371.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
