Kister, Joyce age 86 of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away Tuesday July 20, 2021. Born May 25, 1935 in Troy, Ohio to the late Robert and Lova {Weikert} Jackson, Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Paul Emil Kister of Tipp City, Ohio, daughter, Elizabeth J. Kister, Seattle, Washington, sons, Paul Stephen {Steve} Kister, Ashburn, Virginia, Douglas T. Kister, Herndon, Virginia and one grandson, Tyler D. Kister, Anchorage, Alaska.
Joyce was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Music from Capital University. She taught piano lessons from her home studio in Tipp City and in Upper Marlboro, MD. Joyce was the director of music and organist for many years at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Lanham, MD and most recently the director of music and organist at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City. Joyce was an active member of National Pastoral Musicians (NPM), including several years in the 1990s as the National Membership Director. Joyce enjoyed family genealogy, especially researching her Irish and German roots.
Visitation on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St. Tipp City, OH; Father Andrew Smith, Celebrant. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Joyce to Hospice of Miami County; PO Box 502 Troy, Ohio 45373.
