Obituary

Wilson, Johnnie Carole (VanHooser) age 76 of Tipp City, OH went home to the Lord, February 20, 2020. She was born a coal miner’s daughter on October 25, 1943 in Whitwell, Marion County, TN to John William VanHooser and Virda Alma VanHooser (Andes). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Allen VanHooser, and nephew Kevin Heggs. Johnnie Carole is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Frank Leroy Wilson, son Tracy Scott Wilson, daughter Jennifer Ann Weimer (Travis), grandchildren Emily Noelle Weimer, Lauren Olivia Weimer, and Jakob Travis Weimer. Johnnie is also survived by her sister Martha Ovanna Stagnolia, nieces Pagett VanHooser, Shannon (VanHooser) Black, Carole Ann McGill (Charles), and nephews Reecie Dean Stagnolia (Kathi), Brian Heggs (Mallorie), and Todd Gibson as well as many loving cousins from Tennessee. Johnnie Carole spent most of her childhood in Harlan County, Kentucky, graduating from Cumberland High School in 1961. Soon after, Johnnie Carole moved to Dayton, Ohio. She lived at the YMCA and was working at EF McDonald when she married Frank in 1964. A member of First Light Church, Vandalia, and Johnnie Carole looked forward to the time she spent with her dear friends at Sunday school who have been a wonderful support system over the years. Her passion for giving did not go unnoticed as she spent her time making gifts for her family and friends, including handmade cozy fleece blankets and pillows. She loved to work in her garden, admire her favorite flowers of roses, begonias, African violets, and magnolias, watch her beloved Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Bengals, and listen to her favorite artists in country and gospel. She loved to cook for her family and you never left her house hungry. She was always cooking their favorite dishes of soup beans and cornbread, beef stew, and fried chicken. Johnnie Carole’s family was the center of her world as she was theirs. Her special joy was her grandchildren; she always looked forward to time spent with them.
