John T. Carner of Tipp City passed away on September 3, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Shelby, Ohio on July 20, 1945 to Thomas I. and Marguerite (Ovens) Carner, John graduated from Shelby High School in 1963 and the University of Dayton in 1967. He was employed as CFO at McCauley Division of Cessna Aircraft for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and birding, hiking, football, movies, and vacationing at Lake Erie. John and Mary were married on October 14, 1967 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary J. (Drilling) Carner; his sons Thomas (Michelle) Carner of Tipp City, Joseph (Kelly) Carner of Tipp City, and Andrew (Jennifer) Carner of Maumee; his sister Rosemary (Jim) Hormuth of Maryland; brother Richard (Patty) of Tennessee; and brother Michael (Nancy) of Kettering; twelve grandchildren: Kathryn (Brandon) Arnold, Matthew (Laura), John, Sam, Molly, Zach, Alex, Allison, Elizabeth, Maddie, Joseph, and Daniel; and four great-grandchildren: Elena, James, Gabriel, and Isaiah.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 753 S. Hyatt Street, Tipp City, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, with the funeral Mass beginning at 11:00am. Father Robert Hale Celebrant. John will be interred in St. John’s cemetery, and Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio or to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, 3230 N. County Road 25A are welcome.
