Biggs, Ronald “Joe” passed away after a short battle with cancer at Hospice of Miami County on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Troy, Ohio at the age of 70.
Joe is survived by his wife, Karen, daughters, Jessica Graham (Eric) of Medical Lake, Washington and grandchildren Tyler, Megan, Madison, Cecilia, Lacey, and great grandson Grayson; Alicia Settle of Ludington, Michigan and granddaughter Hannah; Kimila Biggs (David) of West Milton, Ohio and granddaughter Lily; brothers Douglas Biggs (Kathy) of Galena, Ohio, Jeffrey Biggs (Joy) of Louisville, Kentucky, Rachelle Bechard of Columbus, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Donna Biggs, sister, Kimila Sue Biggs all from Tipp City, Ohio; and granddaughter Elle Jean Settle, of Ludington, Michigan.
Joe was born on September 29, 1952 in Troy, Ohio at Stouder Memorial Hospital to Albert & Donna Biggs. Joe graduated from Tipp City High School in 1971 and was in the Army as a Military Policeman until 1974 when he was honorably discharged. After the Army he went to Upper Valley Joint Vocational School where he graduated as a certified machine repairman. He was employed by Huntsman Container where he met his wife and married the love of his life, Karen. He married Karen Jean Debar, daughter or Richard Earl & Betty Debar of Troy, Ohio in a small ceremony February 17, 1979. Joe continued his career in machine repair and worked at Kimberly Clark Brown Bridge, General Motors, and General Dynamic prior to his retirement. The couple raised 3 daughters at their home in West Milton, Ohio. They enjoyed spending time together in retirement and living in the home where they raised their children together.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. His children remember him as a hardworking father who taught them the value of family, work, and friendship. He encouraged them to pursue their goals and they could achieve anything they set their mind to.
Joe is extremely mechanically inclined and always offered a helping hand to friends and neighbors. Joe was known for his wit, humor, and kindness. He enjoyed fishing and boating and spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed traveling to visit his friends in Kentucky and Tennessee as well as visiting his children and grandchildren in Michigan and Washington. Joe supported the United States Military and was a member of the American Legion, Post 586, in Tipp City, Ohio.
The memorial is scheduled for Saturday May 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Nashville United Church of Christ, 4540 W. State Route 571, West Milton, Ohio 45383, with a reception to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Joe Biggs to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to thank Hospice of Miami County for the care Joe received in his last days and their support for the family.
