James "Jim" Dean Hasty

Hasty, James Dean “Jim” also lovingly nicknamed "JD" age 64 of Vandalia, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024. James was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 22, 1959 to the late Ellie and Alta {Salyer} Hasty. He is survived by his siblings; Dewayne Hasty of Galloway, Ohio, Swana (Mark) Spicer of New Carlisle, Ohio, Denise (Donald) Brown of Cross Plains, Texas and Dana Hasty of Washington DC, nieces and nephews; Nichol (Lynn) Merrill, Ken (Coral) Spicer, Erica (Brian) Ritchie, Kelly (Nikola) Radanovic’, Christy (Brian) Dolinger, James (Rachel) Brown, and Claire (Dylan) Fabrizio, great nieces and nephews; Colton Merrill, Ensley, Ellis, and Elyse Ritchie, Levi, Lydia and Esther Dolinger, Ruby, Vera, Alice, and Judah Brown, Heidi and Jesse Fabrizio. Also surviving are a host of dear friends.

Jim was an extremely avid outdoors man. He enjoyed camping underneath the stars, fishing, hiking, hunting, and kayaking. White water rafting had been a passion of Jim’s for over 25 years. He played softball and basketball when he was younger, and enjoyed darts and cards as he got older. Jim worked at Meijer Distribution Center for nearly 24 years. He was known to go on 20+ mile bike rides regularly. One of his greatest personal achievements was climbing Mount Le Conte in Tennessee in 2022. Jim was exceptional at making beef and deer jerky. So much so, that he began to sell it. He was an amazing son, brother, and uncle with a big heart that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM the following day, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
