Widener, James W. age 86, of Elizabeth Township, went home to be with his Lord on March 23, 2024. He was born March 22, 1938, in Elizabeth Township, the son of Thomas Grant Widener and Eunice Ellen (Estey) Widener.
Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy (Vore) Widener, and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Widener of Lakewood, Colorado. He was dearly loved by his cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Jim graduated from Miami Central High School, class of 1956, served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959 and was a school bus driver. Jim was a member of Alcony Grace Church and a former member of Cove Spring Grange. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed watching other sports and western shows.
He was a humble second generation farmer, with a kind-hearted soul and had a knack for knowing when help was needed. He truly lived his life by the Golden Rule, showing love, kindness and goodwill to all. The life he lived was testimony of his faith and an example for each one of us. His Master replied “Well done, good and faithful servant – You have been faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness.” (Matthew 25:21)
At Jim’s request, there will be no funeral services. Prayers are appreciated, and if desired, memorial contributions may be made to Alcony Grace Church, 1045 S. Alcony-Conover Rd., Troy, OH 45373. Arrangements are in care of Frings & Bayliff Funeral Home, Tipp City. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at fringsandbayliff.com
