Howard Alan Wood

Howard Alan Wood, 84, formerly of Tipp City, OH passed away peacefully at home in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday, December 24, 2018. Howard was born June 4, 1934, the second of three sons to Gardner and Ruth (Hall) Wood in Naugatuck, CT. On November 3, 1956, he married Barbara Ann Knox in New Milford, CT. They were married 44 years until her passing in 2001. Howard graduated from Purdue University in 1956, subsequently completing his graduate degree in Engineering at Yale University.  He made his living as a structural mechanics engineer at Sikorsky Helicopter (Connecticut), B.F. Goodrich (Troy, OH) and Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH.  Although he had a celebrated career in engineering, his passion was photography.  He spent his last two decades capturing both light and nature in his award-winning photographs.

Survivors include his daughter Sondra (Harvey) Kohn of Menomonee Falls, WI, his two sons, Bradley Wood (Bill Lavender) of Seattle, WA and Gregory (Cindy) Wood of Newmarket, NH; three grandchildren, Lindsay Wood, Matthew Boney and Elizabeth Boney; and a brother, Stephen of Marblehead, MA as well as many nieces and nephews, others relatives and friends.  Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his brother, Gardner and two sisters-in-law; Betsy Wood and Phyllis Losaw.

Private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Arrangements have been entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, Tipp City.
