Fordree, Howard Robert age 91 of Troy, Ohio formerly of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Rochester Hills, Michigan; passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, September 25, 2023. Howard was born November 2, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Zada {Barnes} Fordree. He is preceded in death by his parents, older brother; William Fordree Jr. and brother-in-law; Paul (Marion) Aschmetat. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Dolores {Aschmetat} Fordree, children; Paul (Debbie) Fordree of Michigan, Amy (Stelios) Varias of Virginia and Julie (Pete) Papadis of Dayton, Ohio and brother; Murray (Barbara) Fordree of Texas. Also surviving are six beloved grandchildren. Zoe Papadis, Chloe Fordree, Noah Varias, Emma Fordree, Elleanna Papadis and Theo Varias.
Howard was born and raised in Detroit. He graduated from Cass Tech High School and went on to earn his bachelors from Wayne State University. He enlisted in the Army and served on Okinawa in Financial Management. Upon completion of his service, he returned back home to Detroit and completed his CPA certification and married the love of his life, Dolores. He started an accounting firm in 1958 and was a founding partner for over 30 years. He stepped away from Perrin, Fordree & Co. and went on to work for Grant Industries as the CFO in 1990. He had the time of his professional life working with his good friends at Grant Industries, retiring in 2001 and moving to Pinehurst, NC. In retirement, he travelled throughout the United States. following his passion for history and visiting his beloved grandchildren. He volunteered in his local community sharing his financial expertise and served as treasurer of his golf league at Midland Country Club. Howard was an avid tennis player and continued playing tennis until he was 86-years-old at the Lawn & Tennis Club of North Carolina.
In June of this year, he and Dolores moved to StoryPoint Troy, Ohio to be close to his family. Howard's great wit and sense of humor endeared him to so many people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday October 7, 2023 at StoryPoint Troy located at 1840 Towne Park Dr., Troy, Ohio 45373.
