Friend, Helen Mariah age 86 of Tipp City, Ohio passed away Wednesday March 30, 2022. Born August 25, 1935 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late James and Helen {Powell} Norris. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Willis Friend, her sister and best friend Ann Patten, brother in law Joseph Patten, brothers John Norris and Donald Norris. Helen is survived by her son Gregory Friend and fiancé Michelle Durham of Tipp City, Ohio, daughter Julie Coberly and son in law Steve Coberly of Englewood, Ohio, sister in law and brother in law Violet and Wallace Tew , and brother in law Wilbur Friend and spouse. Grandchildren, Hoss Coberly, Karoline and Aaron Pratt, Leslie and Jaye Hatfield-Jones, Lisa and Bryan Weaver, Ashley Friend, Katherine and Mike Doyle, Michael and Josie Friend, Sarah Durham, and Adam Durham. Also surviving are 21 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way and 1 great great grandson! Many special friends along her earthly journey but special mention to her close friend Jan Jones.
Helen had several places of work over her years, however her 13 years at K’s Hamburger in Troy, Ohio never felt like a job. She loved her patrons and co-workers with Marsha and Michael just to name a couple. She would spend anytime she could revisiting K’s and chatting with some of her past regulars. She was a member of the VFW 6560 of Dayton, Ohio. Helen loved all of her family and friends, loved to dance to Doris Day and Johnny Mathis, color beautiful pictures, crotchet many blankets over her years, loved penny slots, bingo and loved Coca-Cola! She was sassy, loving, outspoken and the life of any party. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but especially missed by her granddaughter, Leslie. “I love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck!”
Friends and family are invited to a visitation and celebration of Helen’s life here on earth; Saturday April 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial service at Noon and FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W.
