Elihu Root "Buzz" Morlidge Jr.

Elihu Root Morlidge Jr., M.D. (“Buzz”), 87, died at Miami Valley Hospital on Feb. 12, 2022 from complications of a fall at his home. Born on June 24, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of Elihu Root Morlidge Sr. and Pauline (Smith) Morlidge. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 65 years, Claire (Albershart) Morlidge of Elizabeth Township, OH; daughter Liz Morlidge and co-caregiver Tom Parsons of Elizabeth Township; son John Morlidge of Forest Park, IL; his sister Sara Hamel of Ft. Thomas, KY; brother-in-law Tom “Berry” Albershart of Denver, CO; nephew Tim (Debbie) Hamel of Ft. Thomas, KY; niece Sara (Wes) Hamel Sowers of Bradford Woods, PA, and several grand nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Highlands High School, Ft. Thomas, KY in 1952, Miami University of Ohio in 1956 and University of Cincinnati Medical School in 1960. He was in the US Air Force from 1961-1963 in France before completing his residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was a beloved family doctor in Tipp City for many years and was on staff at Stouder Hospital in Troy.

Following his retirement from medicine, he was very active at Needy Basket in Tipp City as a food pantry volunteer. He loved working outside on his country property, buying antiques with Claire, reading about American history, setting off fireworks, homemade soup, and cats. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 27, from 1-3 pm at Frings & Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, OH 45371. Interment of the ashes will be done privately by the family at a later date.
