Woerl, Douglas J., age 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. He was born in Dayton, OH on April 26, 1946 to James and Wylodine “Willy” (Wilmore) Woerl. He grew up in Patterson Park and graduated from Belmont High School. He married the love of his life, Mary (Sutton) Woerl on November 27, 1965. For a living, Doug was semi owner/operator for many years, but his love of racing led him to be part of NASCAR pit crew with Benfield Racing and in more recent years, a beloved mechanic and pit crew member to his grandsons’ karting team, Woerl Brothers Racing. Everyone who knew Doug loved him for his wonderful ability to tell a story and his kind heart. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his son Jason and daughter-in-law Suzanne Woerl, two grandsons, Jack and Tyler and two sisters, Judie Baughman and Rhonda Woerl, as well as countless cousins and loving friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a casual gathering to celebrate Doug’s life on March 20, 2021 between 2pm and 5pm at 588 Tallow Tree Way in Tipp City Ohio, we will start with a prayer and memorial at 3pm.
