Alan R. Twehues, age 90, of Tipp City, Ohio (formerly Bethel Twp. Miami County) passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. Alan was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 14, 1932 to the late Sylvester F. and Helen M. (Ripberger) Twehues. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Suzanne (Stauble) Twehues; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorna and Jack Schoenberger; brother-in-law, Lester Homan; children, Scott (Patty) Twehues of Switzerland, Mark Twehues of San Antonio, TX, Dean (Laurie) Twehues of Reno, Nevada, Paul (Melanie) Twehues of Austin, TX, Lynn (Christopher) Staggs of San Antonio, TX, Chris (Lawrence) Isenbarger of Troy, OH, Gregg (Brenda) Twehues of Tarrytown, NY, Jean (Eric) Twehues of Peyton, CO, and Matt (Emma) Twehues and Julie Perkins of Dayville, OR; nieces, Lara (Eric) Limbert, and Tanya (Steve) Hoeting, and nephew Eric (Lisa) Homan; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Homan, and daughter, Beth (Jim) Holt of Clermont, FL.
Alan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City, OH. He was an Eagle Scout, Scout Master, 4-H Advisor, and volunteered at Tipp City Seniors, Needy Baskets, The Clothesline, U.S. Air Force Museum, Schuster Center, Bethel Twp. Miami Co. Fire Dept., and National and State Parks. He loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, gardening and volunteering.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 9:00-11:00 AM, with Mass beginning at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St., Tipp City, OH 45371. Father John Tonkin officiating. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tipp City Seniors or Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County.
