Thompson, William R. "Bill" age 86 of Tipp City passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his home. Born September 14, 1930 in Troy, OH to William and Eva {Kuntz} Thompson. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Maynard, Tom, Danny and Michael and sister, Ruth Cramer. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy {Fessler} Thompson, Tipp City, sons, Randy (Jane) Thompson, Rick (Beth) Thompson all of Troy, OH, sisters in-law, Debbie Thompson, Tipp City, OH, Emily Holland, New Mexico and Sylvia Fessler, Covington, OH . Also surviving are grandchildren, Derek (Cindy), Zachary (Stacy), Ashley (Greg) and Whitney (Randy), great grandchildren; Sloan, Kellen, Lane, Taylor, Lucas, Branton, Grant, Rylan and Jemma and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School, Class of 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War (1951-1953). He retired from Tipp City Schools where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 586, Tipp City, Elks and the VFW. He enjoyed vacationing with his family at Torch Lake, MI, fishing, hanging out with his buddies on Saturday mornings and was a great "fixer upper" guy. Bill loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Hospice and his special girl, Liz Chaney with Hospice of Miami County. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371; Hospice Chaplain, Forrest Tabor officiating, burial will follow in Casstown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Bill to Hospice of Miami County.
