Friend, Veatrice I. age 101 of Tipp City passed away Monday February 1, 2010 at Springmeade Nursing Center, Tipp City. Veatrice was born on October 14, 1908 in Miami County, Ohio to Clarence and Maude {Hughes} Weldy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; John E. Friend in 1994 and brothers; Raymond, Marvin and Loren Weldy and her sister; Mildred Miller. She is survived by her children; Wilbur and his wife Janine Friend, Tipp City, Willis and his wife Helen Friend, Tipp City, and Violet and her husband Wallace Tew of Cape Charles, Virginia, 5 grandchildren; Dianna Jones, Julie Coberly, Greg Friend, Kay Kelly and Michael Tew, 13 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother and devoted her life to homemaking and farming for many years. A member of the Bethel Grange and had been a 4-H Advisor in Bethel Township. She loved quilting, sewing her own clothes and had a passion for mowing her lawn which she did until 5 days before her 100th birthday. Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Monday February 8th at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371, Pastor Norm Perkins officiating, burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, New Carlisle. Visitation 5 to 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
