Jacobson, Thomas H. age 84, of Troy , Ohio died at his home on January 28, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones. Born June 18, 1925 in Dayton , Ohio to Louis and Gladys Jacobson. Thomas was a student of Carnegie Tech and Ohio State University and a #1 Buckeye fan. He worked as an engineer for his father's company, Quality Steel in Dayton , Ohio . Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Gladys Jacobson. Surviving Thom are his wife, Heather, of 23 years; his step-son Jon Wyatt and his fiancAC. Andrea Charlton of Troy, Ohio; his children Dirk Jacobson and Cynthia Jacobson of South Carolina, and Diane Langos; and his grandchildren Tyler Jacobson and Justin (Sarah) Wyatt. He dedicated much of his time to the Stillwater Civil War Round Table and the Civil War Preservation Trust of Washington D.C. Thom and Heather are both National Color Bearers for the CWPT. This interest in the Civil War is continued in Thom's collection of cannons that qualifies him as a "Cannon Man." Thom was proud to serve his country as a member of the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Dayton Engineers Club for 50 years and had perfect attendance for 55 years as a member of the Dayton Rotary Club. Thom was a lovely man and has been described as "wonderful" and "the greatest." His wife, Heather, "simply adored him." Heather would like to give special thanks to the Alzheimer's Association and Hospice of Miami County for all of their help. She would most importantly like to thank Jon and Andrea for their loving support as they assisted around the clock as Thom's caretakers. Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Frings & Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. The visitation will be held an hour and half prior to the service, starting at 1:30pm , also at Frings & Bayliff. Burial in Polk Grove Cemetery , Vandalia is private. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County. Arrangements entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, TIPP CITY.
