Smith, Sylvia J. "Jean", age 77 of Tipp City passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Covington Care Center. Born June 21, 1939 in Ages, Kentucky to Felix and Ola {Curnutt} Hodge. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William C. Smith, Sr., siblings; Arthur, Kenneth, Oscar Jackson, Buddy and Doralee Hodge. Sylvia is survived by her children; Kay (Randy) Pritchard, Piqua, OH, Laura Ross, Troy, OH and William C. "Bill" (Judy Barga) Smith, Jr., Troy, OH. Also surviving are grandchildren; Glenn Given, Nicholas (Felecia) Flannery, Jordan Kiefer and Jacob Ross. Sylvia delighted in socializing with her friends and neighbors. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, doing puzzles, playing BINGO, was an avid reader and loved African violets. Sylvia was passionate about spending time with family and spoiling her grandkids. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428. The procession will leave from the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W Main St, Tipp City, OH 45371.
