IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Dewayne
Leist
May 18, 1965 – October 6, 2025
On the afternoon of October 6th, 2025, Steven Dewayne Leist, aged 60, peacefully left this world with his brother and daughter by his side. He was born in Dayton, OH on May 18th, 1965 to Gail Violet {Broughton} Leist and Ronald Edward Leist. Steve is preceded in death by his loving parents, grandparents, and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins. Steve is survived by his daughter and only child; Amberlyn Leist of Dayton, OH. Also surviving are his brother, Ken Leist of Dayton, OH, his former wife, Patrishia {Hubbard} Leist of London, KY, his nephews Jesse Leist, Josh Leist, and Michael Leist, great niece and nephew Ava and Logan Leist, along with countless cousins and friends.
Steve grew up in Dayton, graduated from Northridge High School in 1984, and was a proud Polar Bear. He worked as a butcher for the majority of his life, and maintained a lifelong adoration for music. His favorite artist was Ozzy Osbourne, with the exception of Hank Williams Jr. earning him the nickname "Bostephus". Steve loved to go hunting and fishing, watch old Westerns and action movies, catch the Bengals game with a deluxe Papa John's pizza, talk about his favorite music and tell the best stories, and crack open an ice cold Diet Mountain Dew on the couch. Steve was a believer in Christ, as well as a believer in kindness. He was known to show kindness constantly, from buying the homeless man on the corner a hot meal and a pack of cigarettes to paying for the elderly woman in front of him's groceries without saying a word. Steve was an understanding father, a loyal brother and son, a reliable friend, and a unique, hilarious, troublemaking soul. He was loved endlessly by all who knew him, and will be missed dearly.
Private family services have been entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, Tipp City. Steve's family requests that anyone wishing to make memorial contributions in his honor to please consider the Alzheimer's Association of Dayton, 6077 Far Hills Ave. #117, Dayton, OH 45459.
