MAGNESS, Ruth A., age 81, died peacefully on Monday, May 29, surrounded by her family at her home. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Catherine Gries; her husband, Glen; and children, Tommy and Betsy and grandson Joshua. She leaves to carry on her legacy, her 12 children; Catherine of Kettering, William (Kim) of Brookville, Richard (Rhonda) of Miamisburg, David (Joyce) of Charlottesville VA, Charles (Sherry) of West Chester, Margaret of Tipp City, Carol (Allen) of Beavercreek, Janet of Monroe, James of Tipp City, John (Melissa) of Lebanon, Mary Frances (Seth) of Lima, and Robert (Robyne) of Lebanon, as well as 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, a host of dear friends and "adopted" children. A native of Evansville, Indiana, Ruth spent her adult years in Tipp City raising her family, primarily as a widow, with the love and support of her church family. Like Ruth in the Bible, she was steadfast and loyal to God. Ruth loved a good wine, a good card game, a good recipe and reminiscing about her family heritage in Indiana. Ruth was an amazingly strong woman who taught us all how to live and how to die. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371 on Thursday, June 1, as well as 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Friday, June 2nd at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. She will be interred at St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. John the Baptist Church Casserole Ministry or to Ohio's Hospice.
