Hawley, Ruth Louise, 89, daughter of Dr. Claude M. and Zenna (Bailey) Kemper died on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Forrest Glen Legacy, Springfield, Ohio. Ruth was born on September 21, 1922 in Troy, Ohio and resided most of her life in Tipp City, Ohio. Ruth taught English in Tipp City Schools for several years. She was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School, class of 1940 and Denison University, class of 1944 where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Ruth loved Tipp City and was actively involved in community service throughout her life. She was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tipp City. Ruth served on several boards including The Tipp Foundation and Bruckner Nature Center. She was a member of the Tippecanoe Historical Society, Tippecanoe Civic Club and Tippecanoe Garden Club. She was a volunteer at Stouder Memorial Hospital, the American Heart Association and a Handivan volunteer. Ruth loved to play bridge, knit, quilt and play golf. Survivors include her daughter, Melissa (Missy) R. Hawley, Springfield, Ohio; son, James K. (Suzanne) Hawley, Medina, Ohio; grandsons, Jacob K. and Aaron J. Hawley, Sheffield Village, Ohio; great grandson, Jace Hawley, Toledo; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Hawley, Aurora, Colorado; family friend and caregiver, Anne E. Deam, Springfield, Ohio as well as other family members and several close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Timothy D. Hawley, Colorado and a lifelong friend and companion, Milt Strasser. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:00am at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Following the services, there will be a gathering of family and friends at Zion Lutheran Church, Tipp City. Memorial donations in Ruth's name may be made to The Tipp Foundation, Tippecanoe Historical Society or Zion Lutheran Church, Tipp City, Ohio. The family is being served by the Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, Tipp City, Ohio.
