Roxie Marie Powell, 105, of Tipp City, passed away on November 15, 2024, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Marie was born in Grampian, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1919. Marie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rush and Vesta Mahlon, husbands James McDermott and Robert Powell; siblings Louella, James, Violet and Betty; son-in-law Jim Slattery; and son, Steve (Amy) McDermott. Marie is survived by her brother Ralph (Doris) Mahlon, sister-in-law Margaret (Woodrow) Kimes and five children: James Paul (Evelyn) McDermott of Abilene, Texas; Judy Slattery of Tipp City; Darlene (Jim) Duggan of Schenectady, New York; Linda (Rob) Brundrett of Troy, Ohio; and Lisa (Steve) Bownas of Dublin, Ohio; as well as 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Marie enjoyed traveling, and visited all 50 states and many countries. She loved reading, puzzles and especially being a mom and grandma. She was known for vigorous walks around the neighborhood, being open-minded and optimistic, sending birthday cards and dressing up and decorating her house for every holiday. Fall was her favorite time of year. She was a very independent woman and enjoyed living on her own. Marie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until time of service at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371.  The family would like to thank Ohio Health Hospice in Columbus.
