Obituary

RoseMarie Hoffman Timmer

June 14, 1917 - December 3, 2014

Died at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida. Rose was the daughter of Charles Hoffman and Helen Christopher of Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the niece of George Christopher, and his wife Marie, who was the president of the Packard Motor Company during World War II.

Rose was a lively and gregarious person. When she lived in Tipp City, Ohio, she was a Red Cross volunteer, a philanthropist, and a member of the Garden Club, Tippecanoe Historical Society, and the United Methodist Church. Long ago, she and her husband, Thomas G. Timmer, operated Timmer Creamery Products. Subsequently, she was an employee of Tip Top Canning company-- a joint enterprise with her late husband and their sons and the third generation of her family.

After she retired to Sanibel Island in Florida, she was a member of Chapel by the Sea on Captiva Island. She could often be seen on the shelling beaches near Blind Pass, looking for coquinas and the perfect junonia. She was an avid birder.

About twenty years ago, she took up residence in Shell Point Retirement Community. With her expertise in seashells and birdlife and her high-level skill in quilting, she was a major force in the community. She volunteered her spare time in the library.

Rose is survived by her sons, Thomas H. Timmer, of Floresville, Texas, and C. Peter Timmer, of Santa Rosa, California (married to Carol F. Timmer) and daughter in-law, Kimberly Timmer, Tipp City, OH. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Timmer, a son, George C. Timmer and a daughter in-law Elizabeth E. Timmer.

Her grandchildren are Jeff Timmer (Linda Timmer) of Fort Myers, Florida; Scott Timmer (Cynthia Timmer) and Matt Timmer (Claire Timmer), both of Tipp City; Joel Timmer, of Fort Worth, Texas; Anne T. Gates (J. Landon Gates) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Ashley S. Timmer (Ari Zweiman) of New York City, New York.

Rose had five great-grandchildren: Bailey, Wade & Harrison Timmer and Dean & Hal Zweiman.

Donations may be made to the Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization at Shell Point Retirement Community (ECHO), the Tipp City United Methodist Church, and/ or the Miami County Park District for use in the Honey Creek Preserve.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31st at 6:00 PM at the Tipp City United Methodist Church. Gathering of friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371.
