Combs, The Reverend Rosella J. (Shade) 82 of Riverside, OH passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. Born March 27, 1931 in Dayton, OH to the late William Christopher and Mary (Valentine) Shade. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Herbert H. Combs in 1996. She is survived by her sons; Chris and Amy (Hager) Combs, Beavercreek, OH and Cevin M. Combs, Riverside, OH; sister, Vera Winchek, Kettering, OH; brother, J. Kenneth Shade, Dayton, OH; sister, Emma Guild, Dayton, OH; brother, Ray Shade, West Carrollton, OH; grandson, Ross and Heather (Olson) Combs with her great grandson Landon; and granddaughter Jennifer (Papadakis) and Arthur Luke III. Rosella was a graduate of the United Theological Seminary and TRIM Graduate of Bethany Theological Seminary. Her working career spans 50 years service as; Choir Director for East Dayton Church of the Brethren, Minister of Music at Beavercreek Church of the Brethren, Administrative Assistant for Southern Ohio District Church of the Brethren, Pastor of Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren, Choir Director at Troy Church of the Brethren, and Pulpit Supply at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren. Rosella did expansive volunteer work in music ministry, Woodland Altars camp counseling, prison ministries and as a member of the District Ministry Commission and Southern Ohio District Board. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The Beavercreek Church of the Brethren, 2659 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH, Pastor Ty Pyles officiating, burial will take place later in Abbottsville Cemetery, Arcanum, OH. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Rosella to The Brethren Academy/Bethany Theological Seminary.
