Obituary

Thomas, Roger Allen, 75 of Tipp City passed away at his home on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Born March 25, 1939 in Columbus, OH to Travers and Virginia {Casey} Thomas. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers, James and William Thomas & niece, Deborah {Thomas} Marcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra {Mehaffie} Thomas, Tipp City, daughter, Caroline Neves, Tipp City son, Jamie and his wife Tabitha Thomas, Horn Lake, Mississippi, grandchildren, Daisy Benton, Nicholas & Madelaine Neves, Adrianna, Dylan and Abigail Thomas, sisters in-law, Catherine Thomas, Stephany Harris and nephew Timothy Harris. Roger was a 1957 graduate of Tippecanoe High School. He attended GMI for 1 year before joining the United States Army, serving his country proudly from 1959-1961 in 101st Airborne Division. He attended Wittenburg University for 2 years, played football and pledged Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He then transferred to Miami University and graduated in 1965 with a degree in business and finance. He continued to serve in the United States Army Reserves for several years with the airborne Special Forces. He worked at WPAFB for several years as a programmer and most recently was self-employed as a futures and options broker. He was involved in his children's activities including swim team, soccer and was an active member of the athletic boosters. Roger also worked with Cub Scouts and was a Den Leader for Cub Scout pack 395. Roger enjoyed dressing as "Woody Hayes", and attending OSU games with his Buckeye friends. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at FRINGS AND BAYLLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371. Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in memory of Roger to Hospice of Miami County and Wounded Warriors Fund.
