Houston, Dr. Rodney E. "Rod" 71 of Tipp City passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Born February 2, 1944 in Dayton, OH to Kenneth B. and Frances M. {Hallam} Houston. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Edington. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon "Sherry" Houston, Tipp City, children; Heidi Lynn (Buddy) Ferrell, Springfield, OH, Kyle Douglas (Tracey) Houston, Union, OH and Kristen Hicks, Tipp City, OH. Also surviving are brother, Jack (Nelda) Houston, grandchildren; Devan Houston, Samantha Shoemaker and Michael Newman, great grandchildren; Jacob, Jocelyn, Max & Wes, many nieces, nephews and friends including special family; David and Ronica Fisher and their children, Farren (Justin) Goins and Nick Fisher. Rod earned his bachelor's and 2 master's degrees from Wright State University and his doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. He worked as a counselor before retiring from Miami Valley CTC after 34 years and was also a counseling hypnotist. Rod proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, loved his family, music, golf, playing poker and enjoyed working with his students. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371, Pastor Bonita Ritchie officiating. Visitation 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Rod to Hospice of Miami County.
