Robert D. (Bob) Powell, 85, of Tipp City, passed away on April 30, 2012, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Bob was born in Avoca, Pennsylvania on February 19, 1927.

Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, Benjamin and Jennette Powell, and son, Steve McDermott. Bob is survived by his wife Marie Powell (Mahlon), siblings Anne Powell and Margaret (Woodrow) Kimes of Scranton, Pennsylvania and five children and their spouses, James Paul (Evelyn) McDermott of Bowie, Texas; Judy (Jim) Slattery of Tipp City; Darlene (Jim) Duggan of Schenectady, New York; Linda (Rob) Brundrett of Troy and Lisa (Steve) Bownas of Dublin, Ohio, as well as 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was also a graduate of Penn State University and worked as a Mechanical Engineer at A.O. Smith for thirty years.

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will hold a private memorial.
