Morando Sr.
March 12, 1945 – May 21, 2024
SFC (Retired) Robert Morando, Sr. U.S. Army, passed away peacefully May 21, 2024, at his Troy Story-Point Residence. He was born March 12, 1945, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio to the late Dominic J. Morando & Mary Elizabeth Diorio-Morando.
While serving his country in Vietnam he met the love of his life, Sandy Morando, while on leave from duty in Seoul, South Korea. They were wed on December 8, 1965 - a marriage that would last more than 50 years until Sandy's passing in September 2016.
Robert's 22-year Military Career (July 24,1964-May 31,1987) included two campaigns in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his dedicated service to our country.
He is survived by his children: Patricia Morando-White (Sidney, OH) and Robert (Leah) Morando Jr. (Tipp City, OH); Grandchildren: Brandon White (Columbus, OH), Madison White (Columbus, Ohio), Eli Morando (Troy, OH), Emmily Morando (Tipp City, OH). He is also survived by his siblings: Evelyn Calmbacher of New Martinsville, OH and Richard (Barbara) Morando of Medina, OH.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Rocco V. Morando, Peter F. Morando, Michael A. Morando, Judith Morando -Howell, Patricia A. Morando, Tony Morando, Dominic Morando, Geno Morando, and John Morando.
Robert was proud of his lifelong military service, but the joy of his life was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was also a member of the Upper Room Worship Center in Tipp City, Ohio. Robert will be dearly missed by his family and those that knew him best.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME , 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. The burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Robert's honor to please consider the Upper Room Worship Center Building Fund, 648 N Hyatt St, Tipp City, OH 45371.
