Robert R. Locke, affectionately known as Bob, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio. Born on January 7, 1942, in Covington, Kentucky, Bob lived a life marked by dedication, joy, and faith.
Bob was a proud graduate of Fairborn High School, class of 1959, and further pursued his education at Kent State University and Sinclair Community College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree. His commitment to service was evident early in life when he honorably served as a United States Marine from 1959 to 1963. Bob was stationed in Japan at Kamiseya Naval Base, he worked as a Morse code operator, skillfully deciphering Russian communications during a critical period.
Professionally, Bob applied his analytical talents as a Systems Analyst at General Motors. Beyond his career, he shared his passion for basketball by coaching teams at Bethel and Troy Christian, inspiring young athletes and many in the community.
Bob was a man who never knew a stranger. With a joyous and positive spirit, he was known far and wide for his happy demeanor and unwavering faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who found delight in playing golf and was a steadfast supporter at the sporting events of his children and grandchildren.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Melva {Flick} Locke; daughters Lynn (Marty) Locke and Pam (Gerry) Locke-McEntyre; and Robin (Todd) Massie. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren Macy Reitz, Samantha Massie, Katelyn Massie, Evan McEntyre, and Logan McEntyre, as well as his great-grandchild Kole Selby. Bob’s extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Paul B. & Gertrude "Trudy" {Caspar} B. Locke, brothers, William F. Locke and Richard I. Locke, and his beloved grandson, Parker Locke.
A visitation will be held at 10:30 AM until time of service at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main Street, Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Bob's honor to please consider, St. Jude Children's Research, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
Bob Locke’s life was a testament to faith, family, and community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His radiant spirit and kindness leave a lasting impression that will be cherished by those fortunate to have shared in his journey.
