Stalder, Richard 85 of Troy, OH passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, OH. Born March 1, 1928 in Chauncey, OH to the late Hollis Virgil and Dorothy {Russell} Stalder. He is also preceded in death by one daughter; Laurie Stalder. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Lou {Kittle} Stalder, daughters; Debbie and her husband John Adams, Columbus, OH, Cris and her husband Kazem Hayat, Kuwait, Marcie and her husband Mike Griesmeyer, Tipp City, brother; Sam Virgil (Edna) Stalder, Athens, OH along with 6 grandchildren; Dan and Jim Adams, Lauren and Gavan Griesmeyer, Lamia Hayat and Laila Hayat and her husband Hani El-Azem. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Cal-Aero School, Pasadena, CA, and was a retired Aeronautical Engineer from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was an Army "train engineer" quite by accident. When asked by his superiors what his previous profession was, he stated, "an engineer", (he meant aeronautical) they assumed he meant he drove a train... so in the Army, he operated a locomotive. He was also a Mason 3rd degree and enjoyed flying model remote controlled airplanes. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371, Reverend Phyllis Meiring officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Contributions may be made in memory of Richard to Hospice of Miami County. www.fringsandbayliff.com
