Mayer, Richard Carl "Dick" 89 of Celina, OH formerly of Tipp City, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, OH. Born on November 22, 1925 in Dayton, OH to the late Raymond Carl Mayer and Thesel {Shanks} Mayer Helke. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Charlyne {Young} Mayer in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband Sherman Brown, Doylestown, OH, son, Randy and his wife Kim Mayer, Dayton, OH, stepson, James and his wife Evelyn Hodge, Liberty, IN, grandchildren, Ryan & Janice Brown, Parma, OH, Ross Mayer, Ocala, FL, step-grandchildren, Brenda & Bill Thornton, Troy, OH, Betsey & Tommy Henry, Riverside, OH, Kenny & Tana Bowen, Troy, OH Barbara & Jeff Garrison, Dayton, OH, Alice Davisson & Jeff Elliott, Casstown, OH, Judi & Joe Apple, Knoxville, TN, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked in the Engineering and Research Department of A. O. Smith before retiring in 1986. Dick was a member of the American Legion Post #586, Eagles and VFW all in Tipp City and a member of the South Shore Sportsman's Club, Montezuma, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, OH 45371, Pastor Bonita Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
