Obituary

Michael James Zimmer Sr., aged 77, passed away Monday May 12 at his home with his family present; Wife Melva and their four children; Stephanie Zimmer of Vandalia, Victoria Lockhorn and husband Mark of Cincinnati, Mitzi Welsh and husband Patrick of Tipp City and his only son Michael J. Zimmer Jr., who arrived from Cape Coral Florida to be with his father. All of his grandchildren and Terry Masters of Vandalia. Michael Sr. attended Stivers High School in Dayton and was a graduate of the University of Dayton. Mike was a very well-known Engineer and operated his own company Zimmer Engineering in Tipp City for many years. Mike proudly served in the United States Air Force and volunteered as Treasurer of the U.S.O. at the Dayton International Airport. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, U.S.O., AmVets of America and the American Society of Mechanical Engineering. Mike was the Grandfather of five cherished children; Samantha Hughes, Nicholas Demmitt, Nathaniel and Michael P. Hughes and Andrea Welsh. He is also survived by sister Carolyn Lonacher and sister-in-laws Jane and Nancy Zimmer and Virginia Morris along with their families. Other cherished loved ones are Charlotte Hurt, Barry and Kirby Morris, Karen Overbay, Janet Schultz and their families. Visitation services will be held Thursday May 15, 2014 5:00 to 8:00 PM at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371. The family respectfully requests to have donations made to the Miami County Hospice. Mike cherished the quote from St. Augustine; Trust the past to God's mercy, the present to His love, and the future to His providence.
