Michael Lee Vore Sr.

Michael (Mike) Lee Vore Sr., 74, of Troy, Ohio passed away on July 29, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends. Mike was a hardworking man whose hands were rarely still, whether he was fixing what was broken, tending to a thriving vegetable garden, or building something with care. Those who knew him often joked that his hands were so big they seemed made for any job, and more often than not, they were.

Mike was born on March 23, 1952 to Clyde and Rachel Vore. He was the youngest of eight children and lovingly referred to as the “baby” his entire life. He graduated from Miami East High School in 1970 and went on to have a long and successful career in the excavation industry, working for Estey Excavating, Miller Brothers and Kelchner to name a few. Mike continued working until recently when he began to lose his sight due to macular degeneration.

Mike met his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Smith) in his junior year of high school. She immediately fell for his blue eyes and the two wed in December of 1970. Together they shared a beautiful life, raising three children. Over the past two and a half decades, Mike found joy in spoiling his grandchildren; he taught his grandsons how to fix things, the love of fishing and digging in the dirt, he showed his granddaughters how to grow vegetables, swim and handle good-natured teasing.

Mike will be remembered for his big heart, unwavering kindness, and the warmth he shared with those around him. Friends and family could always count on a hearty bear hug and the unmistakable twinkle in his blue eyes.

Mike is survived by his wife Patty, his children Michael (Lauren) Vore, Jenny (Jesse) Griggs and Tim Vore. His grandchildren Emma Griggs, Jake Vore, Maya Griggs, Emily Vore and Harper Vore, his sisters Peggy Widener and Susan (Paul) McAdams and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rachel Vore, brothers Charles (Chuck), Clarence, Kenny & Jim and sister Sally. Mike’s first grandson, Sebastian Vore, also preceded him in death.

Family and friends may gather from 12:00 to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Frings & Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371, with the funeral service to follow. Mike will be laid to rest at Casstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Mike’s honor to please consider giving to the Macular Degeneration Association.
