Michael Ned Ellis, age 54, passed away at his home in San Diego on June 9th, 2015. He was born April 5th, 1961 in Troy, Ohio and graduated from Centerville High School in 1979 and then went on to attend Kent State University where he studied History and Criminal Justice. Mike served in the Army Reserves for 12 years where he attained a rank of Sergeant, and then worked as a Security Officer from 2001 to 2009. After this, Mike was a Detention Officer from 2009 to 2014. Mike had a passion for History, especially World War II. Mike even went on to travel to Europe, to follow the same path his grandfather Ned took during WWII. Mike had many friends in Ohio, California, New Mexico, Arizona, who all said he was a big guy with a big heart. He was a friend for life. Mike is survived by his mother, Sandra, and father, Fred; his grandmother Patti Jean Sprecher, and three brothers and their families: Charles "Joe" Krieger (his wife Heather and children, Dylan and Rebecca), Kirk (his children Mark, Danny, and Eileen) and Eric (his children Patrick, Chris, Erin, Caitlin and Freddy). Mike had many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family, friends and others are invited to the American Legion Post 586 (377 N 3rd St, Tipp City, OH 45371 ) on August 29th from 2pm to 4pm to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just talk.
