Obituary

Plunkett, Mary E., 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, April 3, 2016 surrounded by her family at SpringMeade Health Center after a brief illness. She was born on November 15, 1924 in Troy, Ohio to the late John and Goldie Wray. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Max K. Plunkett, her brothers Lawrence and Russell (Emily) Wray, her sisters Dorothy Wray, Laura (Denzel) Littlejohn, and Viola (Lowell) Miller. She is survived by her brothers John Wray Jr. and Donald (Sherry) Wray and her sister Velma Cruea. Mary was a very giving and loving woman who adored her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Mary was always the first one unselfishly there when she was needed in a crisis and for that we are all very thankful. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Joan (Anthony) Della Monica of Clearwater, FL, Jean (Roger) Stout of Gold Canyon, AZ, and Diane (Bruce) Brownlee of Kennesaw, GA. Her sons Gail (Theresa) Plunkett of Dayton, OH and Gary Plunkett of Milford, OH. Mary had fifteen grandchildren, Kris (Elisabeth Leamy) Persinger of Washington, D.C., Kelly Persinger of Clearwater, FL, Zachary Stout of Alma, Colorado, Mary Stout of Boston, MA, Kary (Tracey) Brownlee of Kennesaw, GA, Kian Brownlee of Charleston, SC, Kaye (Chad) Rickman of Greenville, SC, Kani (Gary) Cassens of Bayfield, CO, Max (Amelia) Plunkett II of Dayton, OH, Sandra Plunkett and Michael Plunkett of Dayton, OH, Bridget (Shaun) Frost of Dayton, Elizabeth Plunkett of Atlanta, GA, Susan Plunkett of Pensacola, FL, Leah Plunkett of Greenville, NC. Mary had been blessed with eight great-grandchildren. Brooke, Brittany and Bryce Brownlee of Kennesaw, GA, Kelsea Persinger of Washington, DC, Cooper and Nolan Frost of Dayton, OH and Callie Rose and Mary Eleanor Rickman of Greenville, SC. Mary retired from Sears Roebuck after 30 years and enjoyed traveling with the Sear's Retirees Club and remained active in the operation of the club for over 15 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Family Abuse Shelter in Troy for many years. She was active in the First United Church of Christ in Troy with the quilting club and the Women's Circle. The family would like to thank the staff at SpringMeade Health Center for the love and care of our Mother for the past 2 A½ years. We would especially like to thank Jodi, Amanda and Mary for treating our Mother like their Mother.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 8 at 10:00am at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W Main St, Tipp City. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County, 16 E. Franklin Street, Troy, OH 45373 or the First United Church of Christ Troy, 120 South Market Street, Troy, OH 45373.
