Mary Jean (nee Butcher) King, of Troy, Ohio, passed away September 13, 2018 with her husband by her side at SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City, Ohio, just days after their 67th wedding anniversary.  She was born in Newark, Ohio, on March 27, 1929, to Wilford and Pearl (McClurg) Butcher who preceded in her in addition to her sister, Frances Catt.  She is survived by her husband of 67 years, G. Stewart King of Troy, her sons Gary (Sammi) King of Batavia, Illinois, and Jeffrey (Barbara) King of Wyoming, Ohio, grandchildren Gregor (Chelsea) King of North Aurora, Illinois, Dr. Kevin (Zak Dabbas) King of Chicago, Illinois, and Julie (Brian) Fishbaugh of Columbus, Ohio.  Mary Jean graduated from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio and briefly taught choral music at the Nevin Coppock elementary school in Tipp City. She also taught piano to many of Tipp City's children, and sang in the choir and played organ for many years at Zion Lutheran Church. Mary Jean loved her Cincinnati Reds, Solitaire, and crocheting, having just finished producing more than 2,000 crocheted hearts for Zion Lutheran's "Sew Much Comfort" group. She spent many years supporting her husband during his years as Tipp City's Band Director by working at the annual band camps and ice cream socials. Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Ohio's Hospice. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St, Tipp City and one half hour prior to the funeral services at Zion Lutheran Church, 14 W. Walnut St., Tipp City at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018; Pastor Jeff Glawe officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City.
