Mary Lou Hoover

Mary Lou Hoover, age 75, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2026, at StoryPoint in Tipp City.

Mary was born in Trotwood, Ohio, on August 21, 1951, to the late Harry and Helen {Blair} Hartline. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Hoover, and her brother, Gene Hartline.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Scott (Trisha) Sutton of Casstown, Ohio, and Julie (Dan) Baker of Oviedo, Florida; her grandchildren, Taylor (Anthony) Petrofes, Sierra (Trenton Fay) Sutton, Alec Baker, and Carson Baker; and her great-granddaughter, Indie Petrofes. She is also survived by her brothers, Ray (Sharon) Hartline and Don (Evelyn) Hartline, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her dearly.

A graduate of Trotwood High School, Mary worked as a buyer for Captor Corporation in Tipp City. While working, she continued her education and proudly put herself through college at Edison State Community College—a testament to her determination and strong work ethic.

Those who knew Mary will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor, her ability to have fun, and, most of all, her love of people. She loved to laugh and never took herself too seriously. She was affectionately known for having “two left feet,” and enjoying a good margarita shared with family and friends.

Mary had a generous heart and believed in giving back to her community. She volunteered with Hospice of Miami County and participated in Broadway Elementary School’s reading program. She and Larry were also devoted supporters of the Tipp Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Above all else, Mary cherished her family and friends. She found her greatest joy in the people she loved and the memories they made together. Her laughter, kindness, playful spirit, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. A funeral service will follow immediately at noon.

Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Larry, at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Miami County in Mary’s memory, 3230 N. County Road 25A, Troy, Ohio 45373.
