IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Thomas
Blauser
December 18, 1931 – September 5, 2024
Please see updates to Mary's celebration of life details.
Mary Thomas Blauser, age 92, of Troy, Ohio, passed peacefully into eternal life on September 5, 2024.
Mary Tom was born in Adamsville, Tennessee to the late Mary Katherine (Smith) Stanley and Thomas Clifford Stanley on December 18, 1931. Mary was preceded in death by her husband George Blauser; her second mother Jane Stanley; and sister Virginia Doyne. She is survived by her children Chris Blauser (Diane Stoll) of Tipp City, Jeff Blauser (Becky) of Tipp City, and Cathy Stahl (Floyd) of Antioch, Illinois; sister Sylvia Staup (John) of Fairfield, OH. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mary was gifted with musical talents from birth. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano at a young age. After graduating high school, she moved to Washington D.C. and worked at the Pentagon, attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, and then moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida to work at Patrick Air Force Base before moving home to Ohio.
Mary's love for music blossomed into a teaching career that spanned over sixty years. She taught hundreds of students to play the piano and was active in the National Federation of Music Clubs. Mary named her music club The Grand Staffers. Mary was also active in the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Not only was Mary a gifted teacher, but she continued her love of playing and developing her skills well into her eighties. She played as an accompanist for many local school choirs as well. Mary was one third of the group affectionally called "The Three Classy Ladies." This trio of Mary Ann Cornell and Suzy Kalmar would perform annually at the Hayner Cultural Center. Mary was an active member of Nashville United Church of Christ devoting her time and energy to teaching Sunday school, playing both the piano and organ for worship service, Women's Fellowship, director of bell choir and adult vocal choir, and she was on the Board of Deacons. She never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere she went from the Troy YMCA to fellow volunteers at the St. Pat's Soup Kitchen.
Given the overwhelming response and expected attendance, Mary's celebration of life has been moved to the Troy Hayner Cultural Center at 301 West Main Street, Troy, Ohio. The service now begins at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Online condolences may be expressed at www.fringsandbayliff.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to either the Troy Hayner Cultural Center or the Troy Musicians Club.
