Kay E. Caudy, 86, passed away May 29th, 2025, at Kauhale Nursing Home in Centerville, Ohio. She was born February 4th, 1939, in Delaware, Ohio to the late Earl Evans and Doris D. (Bondley) Evans. On December 17th, 1960 Kay married her college sweetheart Charles Wm. Caudy in Delaware, Ohio.
Kay is survived by her two sons: John (Amy) Caudy of Miamisburg, Ohio and Robert "Bob" (Kristin) Caudy of Hilliard, Ohio. Grandchildren: Laurie (Mike) Whipkey of Mason, Ohio, Rebekah (Austin) Wyen of Springboro, Ohio, Robert (Camila) Caudy of Liberty Township, Ohio, Gwyneth "Gwyn" Caudy and Owen Caudy of Hilliard, Ohio. Six great grandchildren: Gavin Whipkey, Connor Whipkey, Blake Wyen, Oaklee Wyen, Cora Caudy, and Lucca Caudy, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother and his wife Ed and Wanda Evans, and nephews Larry Caudy and Eric Evans.
Kay graduated from Delaware Hayes High School in 1957, The Ohio State School of Nursing in 1961, and received a Master's Degree from The Ohio State University in Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health in 1962. She worked as an RN with St. Elizabeth Medical Center for 10 years before taking some time away to raise two very active young boys. When the boys were older, she transitioned back to work as a Professor of Psychiatric Nursing at area colleges with at least 10 years at Sinclair Community College. Towards the end of her working career she was recognized by the State of Ohio as one of the leading people in Mental Health and was named to a select group that traveled to Russia as an exchange delegate promoting improvement of medical and nursing causes worldwide.
Kay was very active in area organizations. She helped start the Fairborn Sea Dragons swim team in the 1970's, Spent 10 years as a band mom with the Miami East Marching and Concert bands, was an adult counselor with her husband Chuck for a C.I.S.V. delegation with Denmark in 1982 and 1983, was an active member of the following organizations: The Ohio Genealogy Society, The Welsh Society, The Tipp City Seniors, The Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Eastern Star, and a 60 year member of the Grange. After her retirement from work, she became a board member with the Ohio Presbyterian Nursing home (Dorothy Love) in Sidney where she continued her fight for the rights and care of the elderly. She and her Husband Chuck had over 5000 volunteer hrs.
Funeral services will be Sunday June 8th, 2025, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Greg Morrow officiating immediately following Eastern Star and Grange services. Burial will be at Casstown Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3 PM on Sunday at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371. A celebration meal will be held at either the Cove Spring Church on Walnut Grove or the Cove Spring Grange in Alcony. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420, The Dayton Foodbank, 56 Armor Pl, Dayton, OH 45417 or a charity of your choice.
