Kelly, Kathleen Marie “Katie” age 78 of Huber Heights, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. Katie was born August 20, 1948 in Evanston, IL to Justin and Anita {Gibian} McCarthy.

On July 5, 1969, she married John Kelly. Katie was a 1966 graduate of St. Patrick Academy and she attended Brescia University. She was a homemaker who raised her family with a loving heart. Katie was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and she was an avid crafter. She was incredibly creative and loved making various items and gifts for those she loved. Katie had a green thumb. From her beautiful garden to her many house plants, she loved tending and watching them grow. Her family held a special place in her heart and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Katie had a kind heart and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband John Kelly. Katie is survived by her children, Sean M. Kelly, Megan M. Kelly, E. Thomas (Kristie Lorton) Kelly, Justin I. Kelly, Sarah R. Kelly and Rebecca A. (Brett Sutton) Kelly and bonus daughter Molly along with many family and friends that lovingly referred to her as “mom.” Also surviving are cherished grandchildren; Ian M. Kelly, Claire M. Kelly, Justin T. Kelly, Liam V. Kelly, Hannah Channell-Sanchez and Evan McCulla; siblings, Justin A. (Beth) McCarthy, Mary Beth (Steve Bartek) McCarthy, James M. (Marian) McCarthy, Kevin G. (Nancy) McCarthy, Maureen R. (Gerald) Slingerland and Margaret “Peggy” (Paul) Azzarello and many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371 on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Father Chibueze Asiegbulem Celebrant. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. Katie received caring support from everyone and at The James over the last several years.
