Karolyn Anne (Bowers) Stocker, age 81, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, June 8, 2026. A broken heart was healed as she reunited in Heaven with the love of her life.
Karolyn was born on October 15, 1944, to William “Fred” and Martha (Taylor) Bowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Stephen R. Stocker Sr.; her daughter, Amy Marie Stocker; and her siblings, Marvin “Sonny” Bowers, Mildred “Middy” Elliott, Doris Skaggs, William “Bill” Bowers, her twin sister, Marilyn Mumford, and Harold Bowers.
She is survived by her children, Tina (Ken) Putnam, Todd (Kathy) Stocker, and Stephen (Rhonda) Stocker Jr., all of Tipp City. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: John Stocker, Aphton (Andrew) Chaney, Chelsea (Craig) Syphrit, Trystan Putnam, Keagen (Susan) Putnam, Kara Stocker, Jessica (Matt) Rohrer, McKenna (Brock) Cattell, and Kaity Stocker.
Karolyn was a proud and devoted great-grandmother to Avery and Adalyn Chaney; Cooper, Cayson, Caroline, and Camden Syphrit; Carly, Brooks, and Natalie Putnam; Hayes, Colt, and Nolan Rohrer; Rhiannon Stocker; and Myles Cattell.
She is also survived by her sister, Wilma “Jean” Rivera and sister-in-law Catherine Rittenhouse as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Karolyn graduated from Northwestern High School. She began her career at Spring Hill Nursery in Tipp City and later worked for Trophy Nut Company, where she met the love of her life. As she and Steve often joked, they met in the “Nut House.” After starting a family, Karolyn devoted herself to raising her children and creating a warm and loving home. Later in life, she and Steve enjoyed working together once again at Process Equipment Company. Karolyn attended Cove Spring Church in Troy.
Being a homemaker brought Karolyn great joy. She took pride in keeping a beautiful home, preparing delicious meals made with love, and caring for her family. Family was always at the center of her life.
Karolyn shared a special bond with her sisters, especially her twin sister, Marilyn, who was also her best friend. Over the years, she and Steve enjoyed many memorable trips with her sisters and brothers-in-law, traveling to Florida, Myrtle Beach, and along the East Coast, including a trip to Niagara Falls.
Camping was another favorite family pastime. Karolyn, Steve, and their children spent many weekends at Kiser Lake, and the annual Labor Day gathering at Old Man’s Cave was a treasured tradition. Family and friends would come together for picnics, hikes, and time spent enjoying the beauty of nature. They also enjoyed many trips with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with extended family on yearly vacations to Myrtle Beach, making memories that will be cherished for many years to come.
Some of the family's fondest memories were the backyard productions created by Karolyn, Marilyn, and their children. Complete with costumes, props, music, choreography, and printed programs, these shows were truly labor-of-love events that required months of planning, shopping, sewing, and creativity.
Karolyn loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and cherished every opportunity to make memories with them. Throughout the years, she hosted countless parties, picnics, holiday celebrations, and special family gatherings. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved.
Whether it was preparing a favorite birthday meal, baking a special cake, or making sure the candy dish was always full, Karolyn delighted in caring for those she loved. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren could always count on a visit to “Gigi and Pop Pop’s” ending with a Dixie cup overflowing with their favorite candy—often spilling into a bag because there was simply too much to fit. She made sure everyone felt special, and her love was evident in the countless thoughtful gestures she shared throughout her life.
Karolyn will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, her generous heart, her welcoming home, and the love she gave so freely to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the treasured memories she leaves behind.
The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Miami County for the exceptional care, guidance, and support provided during Karolyn's final months. A special thank you to Abbie, Jasmine and Candice, whose compassion, patience, and genuine kindness brought comfort, dignity, and peace to Karolyn and reassurance to those who loved her. Their tender care and unwavering support meant more than words can express. Because of their dedication, Karolyn was able to remain at home, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply. The family will always be grateful for the love and compassion they shared during this difficult journey. Jasmine and Candice made her feel so special when they would have “girl time” pampering her, giving her manicures, pedicures and a little girl talk.
