Obituary

Karen (Perry) Huntsberger, 82 of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away December 17th, 2025, at Miami Valley Hospice surrounded by her three children after a sudden diagnosis of aggressive brain cancer. She was born in Troy, Ohio, to the late Howard and Betty (Taylor) Perry. She grew up in Tipp City with her 3 sisters Kay Kitzing, Janet Barno, and Jane Taylor. She attended Tipp City Schools where she would meet her husband Jerry Huntsberger and married him at the young age of 18.  Jerry passed in 2023 but not before they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Her early childhood years were filled with warm stories and traditions from chasing animals at her Grandma Taylor's farm to holiday gatherings filled with family recipes that still exist today.  She grew up fast and began her adult life focused on creating a warm and loving home with a rich network of friends, family and neighbors.  She was employed helping both our family and the community working at Tipp Florist, Tipp Novelty and the YMCA.  She also volunteered her time at Spring Meade Senior Living facility.  Every single one of those "jobs" also expanded her friendships with the people she cared about.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who would love to share what we all were doing in our lives.   Her home is a curated display of the people and things that meant the most to her.  She would attend, capture and gather simple keepsake treasures accompanied by pictures that she would proudly display in her home. Not just for her family but everyone she loved.  She enjoyed church, playing games, working puzzles and attending La Comedia Dinner Theater.

She was a very creative woman with many crafts and hobbies such as macramé cross stitching, crocheting, flower arranging, gardening, paper art, and always a Christmas ornament project too.  Her favorite time of year was Christmas.  Likely due to the season representing all the things she loved the most. Strong traditions, time with family and friends, food, and fellowship.  Those who knew her well have seen her celebrate the season displaying countless versions of nativity, both big and small, she would meticulously display for us to remember the meaning of the holiday.  It feels fitting with her passing, she will be able to celebrate this Christmas with Jesus himself.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Kurt) Hagen of Tipp City, Carl (Tami) Huntsberger of Wildlight, FL, and Kurt (Janette) Huntsberger of Arcade, NY.  Also surviving are grandchildren: Christian and Daniel Hagen and Taylor and Mckenzie Huntsberger.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation and memorial service with family at Tipp City Global Methodist Church, 8 W.
