Obituary

Daugherty, Joseph "Paul" age 80 of Englewood, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1945 in Stanford, Kentucky to the late Russell and Lyda {Hasty} Daugherty. He is preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife of 54 years, Janice "Goose" Daugherty, and siblings Russell "Junior" and Mary "Louise" Daugherty. He is survived by his sons Jon (Lori) Daugherty of Clayton, Ohio, Joe (Tish) Daugherty of Phillipsburg, Ohio, sister Carolyn Rudd of Lexington, Kentucky, cherished grandchildren, Ashby (Skyler), Jacob, Kelsey (Kenze), Aaron, Brayden (Leah), Matt (Johnna) and Olivia, and treasured great grandchildren, Aiden, Laytyn, Addie, Ashton, and Alydia. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Leah Fletcher, Andrew (Lindsay) Fletcher, Lisa Curtis, Diana Mobley, Elizabeth McLane, Thomas Rudd, David Rudd and sister-in-law Donna Fletcher.

He worked at Dayton Tire & Rubber before moving on to General Motors, where he served as a skilled Tinsmith and eventually retired from Harrison Radiator in the 1990s. Even after retirement, he continued working in various maintenance-related jobs. He could fix almost anything with a bent screwdriver and a pair of vise grips. He took great pride in his work and in the life it provided for his family.

He had a deep love of football. He coached in the peewee program for many years before transitioning into officiating the game. He would even run the sideline chains at high school games, simply to stay connected and close to the game he loved.

In the 1990s, He and Janice purchased a late-1800s farmhouse they lovingly called "Heaven's Blessing Farm." Together, they renovated it into a warm and welcoming home that hosted countless family gatherings and provided shelter to many family members over the years.

His greatest achievement was caring for his wife, Janice, who courageously battled cancer for more than 30 years. He was unwavering in his dedication, doing everything possible to ensure she received the care and treatment she needed—a true testament to his love, devotion, and commitment.
