John Carl Ward , age 76, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2022. John was born on September 15, 1945. He graduated as salutatorian from Lockport High School in 1963. He attended Northwestern University and graduated from The Ohio State University with an Industrial Engineering degree in l968. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. After graduation, he married Jeanne Dickson of Lockport, New York. They moved to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, to start his engineering career with Trane Company and served in the Army Reserve from 1969 to 1975.
For the last 45 years, Tipp City has been his family's home, where his daughters, Amy and Jane, were raised. He was active in the Tipp Players in his younger years. Most of his career was in Dayton, Ohio, as Chief Operating Officer of Chemineer for 28 years. He also owned an Internet Technology consulting firm and retired as President of Sync with God out of Lincoln, Nebraska, in 2020.
John loved his church, where he was involved as a teacher, leader, and board member for the last 44 years. His passion for Christ was evident by his daily life. Christ, his family, and his church were his top priorities. While a member at Ginghamsburg Church, John served as interim pastor at Fort Mckinley & Midway United Methodist Churches. He loved boating, his lake house with the family, spending time with his grandchildren, reading, researching, and writing. He loved sports, especially his Buckeyes, and cheering on his grandchildren in all the sports they played. He was known for his unique and contagious laugh, making friends, and conversation wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanne, and two daughters Amy (Marvin) Major of Troy, and Jane (Ryan) Stacy of Tipp City; 6 grandchildren, Marvin Jr., Benjamin, Matthew, and Parker Major, Evan and Lily Stacy. John is survived by his sister Julie Askew, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Wallace and May {Williams} Ward, and brother James Ward.
Visitation and Celebration of Life will be Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Ginghamsburg Church located at 6759 S. County Road 25A., Tipp City, Ohio. The family will receive visitors from 3:30-5:30 PM and a service to celebrate John's life will be immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Path Ministry through Ginghamsburg Church or directly on their website, http://www.newpathserves.org/#make-a-donation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, Tipp City.
