Kelly, John Phillip age 77 of Huber Heights, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Soin Medical Center. He was born on March 30, 1948 in International Falls, MN to James and Marguritt {Pohl} Kelly, who preceded him in death. On July 5, 1969 he married Kathleen "Katie" {McCarthy} Kelly, who survives him in Huber Heights. John was a 1967 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Virginia, MN and he attended Evelth Area Vocational Technical School where studied Optical Mechanics and Optical Theory. He was an Optician for House of Vision Inc., Lens Crafters Inc. and Luxottica Group; he retired from the latter in 2018. John enjoyed watching television and there wasn't a baby he met that he didn't love or they didn't love him in return. He was even known as the fastest diaper changer around! He made the best poached eggs and fried potatoes and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John had a wonderful heart and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Sean M. Kelly, Megan M. Kelly, E. Thomas (Kristie Lorton) Kelly, Justin I. Kelly, Sarah R. Kelly and Rebecca A. (Brett Sutton) Kelly; grandchildren, Ian M. Kelly, Claire M. Kelly, Justin T. Kelly, Liam V. Kelly and Evan McCulla; siblings; Margaret Ann Leaseman, Thomas Kelly, Michael Kelly, Peter F. (Liz) Kelly, Ella Fausone and Patrick (Cyndy) Kelly; LuAnn Smith; best friend Molly and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sisters; Veronica M. Kelly and Theresa E. (Kenneth) Hadfield; brothers, James B. Kelly and William E. (Bobbi) Kelly; brothers-in-law, Gustave "Bud" Leaseman and Gerald Fausone and his sister-in-law, Shari Kelly.

A Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial to follow at 11:30 AM at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45409.
